The VPhysicsNormalInit tip did it, but thank you all very much for your
help. I had looked at the rollermine code, but I didn't want to establish
proper AI for the entity, so basing my entity directly off it it was out,
and I was having trouble determining the impact of specific lines on the
physics simulation. I had also seen the sphere, but one of my entities
actually uses the rollermine model, so I wasn't sure if that would be
satisfactory.

Thanks again - I hope my neophytic questions are not too irritating. In any
event, I will be reading the list as often as I get a chance, in the hopes
of gaining some more advanced understanding of the engine via osmosis ;).
