Sacrifices must be made for the sake of performance. In this case perhaps performance was sacrificed for performance.

What are the lag spikes like? The whole server or individual players at a time?

Some custom maps are like that for some reason (map maker
negligence?) when theres adequate space in HU and the exit still
destroys. Thankfully, not all custom maps are like that.

If it happens in just one specific spot, thatd be the intended
effect as the spots ceiling is too low to successfully teleport a
player, thus auto-destroying the exit and any level upgrades
associated with it.

But if its happening everywhere on every map (not likely)...
