Not really. Valve could just require IE Installed on the PC or Steam 
wont run (like it is required now). It's not their problem, EU turned it 
to our problem for having to install it separately.I don't like having 
it but as long as it is required, i'm forced to have in at my computer 
without any other use.

However if Valve is ready to switch from IE to some browser that can be 
included with Steam installation during that time, it would be even 
better solution. I don't think that time is here yet due to their close 
relations with Microsoft regarding plans for Xbox360 and how future 
downloadable content would be shared on it instead of the current way.

But this is for hlds_linux issues, we are going too much offtopic here.
