Well, I liked it quite a bit, and found his phrasing NOT over-done...but taste is in the ear of the beholder, as we all know.
My guess about the video is that he's being artistic...and attempting to offer the eye more than just the act of playing horn and piano. If there are edits in the recording, I can't hear them - and who out there releases unedited commercial recordings? (yes...I know Hans and some others of you will now flood the list with all the amazing artists...1st chair major orchestra players all, right?...who have released totally perfect and unedited recordings...) I do think it's possible that one can be a fine...perhaps even world class...horn player and NOT be sitting first chair in a major orchestra. I know of one around here...but won't name him as some here might think he names himself world class...and he simply is too classy a guy to go around bragging. But he has no major orchestra job - but is...well, he's quite amazing...Nuf said...
