My daughter has a five valve single Bb Hoyer; when I play it I find I  
have to use much less hand in the bell; I suppose that the main reason  
is because the horn's throat is smaller than then the throat of my  
regular double. It's certainly possible to obtain a beautiful horn  
sound from it, and my daughter does imho (at least when her changing  
teenager mood is on the right side...)
