I spent a month with Mr. Klišans in Riga in 1992, which I believe is after this recording and photo were made. IIRC, at that time an older Holton that he was able to buy while on tour in the west with the Leningrad Philharmonic was his only horn. At the time of this recording Latvia was still part of the Soviet Union and instruments of any kind were difficult to acquire both before and after they gained independence in '91. He is (was?) a wonderful player and a wonderful human being. Dan ==================== Dan Phillips Associate Professor Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music University of Memphis www.prizmensemble.com
