Many ANSI characters useful in spelling composer names or composition titles
can be generated by pressing (and holding) the ALT key followed by pressing
the INS key and 2 or 3 numeric key pad numbers. I am not sure, however,
whether or not they are universally compatible with all character set
selections.

ALT INS 228 = ä
ALT INS 235 = ë
ALT INS 239 = ï
ALT INS 246 = ö
ALT INS 252 = ü

ALT INS 233 = é
ALT INS 237 = í
ALT INS 243 = ó
ALT INS 250 = ú

ALT INS 226 = â
ALT INS 234 = ê
ALT INS 238 = î
ALT INS 244 = ô
ALT INS 251 = û

ALT INS 231 = ç

ALT INS 241 = ñ

And shop owner will like these!

ALT INS 162 = ¢
ALT INS 128 = €
ALT INS 163 = £
ALT INS 165 = ¥
