Benno, first we have to balance both sides of the horn. The next step is it, to adapt it to the piano or strings or oboe by pulling out or pushing in the main tuning slide.
Many horns have just the main tuning slide before the entrance of the lead pipe into the valve section & the other tuning slide for the F extension.
