Aaron,
How would I find that out that the mobo supports the correct protocols?
I ended up having the user send the printer back (laserjet 3055) and I sent him
over a different model (laserjet 3380).
I don 't want to run into the same issue.
Thanks

Derek,

What is the make/model of your motherboard? Is it possible for you to try
printing on another linux system? It's possible that your motherboard usb ports
may not support the correct protocols.

Just for the heck of it can you try removing and reinstalling the printer?
ie delete the printer queue and set it up again using hp-setup.

Aaron,

Of course the Office Jet device still works fine. Is the printer bad?

Have you tried a different USB cable?

also if possible try using a usb 1.1 hub and/or changing the speed of the
motherboard ports to 1.1.

And post the results.

The printer is plugged directly into the comptuer. No USB hubs.

Is the LJ3055 plugged directly into the printer or are you using a usb hub?

Hi,
I am trying to fix a problem with a HP LaserJet 3055 (MFP). I have Fedora Core
5 installed, the latest version of cups for fc5 and hplip version of 1.7.3. The
printer is very flaky about working and not working. I have tried to restart
the computer and usually stuff starts printing out.
Anyway, after issueing the command
tail -f /var/log/messages
I recieve these errors:
...
Apr 10 14:09:26 localhost hpiod: invalid Dot4CreditRequest from peripheral:
io/hpiod/dot4.cpp 939
Apr 10 14:09:26 localhost HP_LaserJet_3055?serial=00CNBJ020495: ERROR: check
device; will retry in 30 seconds...
...
This is repeated indefinately.

I am having the user use a HP OfficeJet 6100 (which works fine) until the issue
is resolved.
Any ideas?
Thanks
