I'm very happy to announce that, finally, I solved my problem. To make it quick : I couldn't print with my HP 970Cxi on mandriva 2007.1 . The error I had from CUPS was :
"/usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip failed " I tried a lot of things, including uninstalling/installing cups, hplip, foomatic and so on. The problem is, due to dependencies management, uninstalling one of the packages means uninstalling a lot of stuff (and probably going back to the same problems while reinstalling). Anyway, I removed and reinstalled the RPMs ghostscript and ghostscript-common with -nodeps and it worked !!
