Ubuntu 6 on a two G3 iMacs, and Xubuntu 6 on another of them (which
does run faster on that hardware). There's supposedly a version of
Java that will run on the powerPC in that OS, but it requires some
special install process that I'm unfamiliar with. The Java thing is
really just a perk, I'd like to see Processing running on these
machines, but they are so "ancient" at this point I'm not sure really
what could be done with them.
Firefox and the GIMP both work like champs on the little candy colored
boxes though, so, considering they are free public access terminals
seems good enough even if the Java install never works.
