if you want to represent the panorama in 3D space properly, a Photosynth-like 
approach is better than the panosphere.

Each picture is like a pyramid, with the base of the pyramid being the 
camera's sensor and the tip of the pyramid being the theoretical no-parallax 
point behind it.

The old assumption was that the tip of those pyramids lie at the center of the 
panosphere and the bases on the panosphere itself with the perpendicular 
through the center of the basis passing through the tip / no-parallax-point. 
This assumption has been relaxed with the TrX, TrY, TrZ parameters.
