Yes DaftAida, you could be right, we could be experiencing different
Hums. I've always maintained that there is more than one Hum as there
are many 'legit' Hums out there, mains transformers for instance. The
universal Hum that I sense is ( usually ) two randomly alternating
tones at varying intensities.... mmMMMmmmMMMmmmmMMmmMMMMMmmmm......and
so on, the lower tone just within the threshold of human perception,
and yes when it's up high, it can be felt too. I'm in NE London, and
when I say it's not bothersome, I mean it's not bothersome at present
as it's just about ticking over. In the past it's had me going out of
my mind. You are very right about misleading information. There is one
persona who no longer "contributes" here, but still does so elsewhere,
who pushes the tinnitus explanation to the point of incredulity.
Perhaps a break to the seaside for a few days away from your flat will
do you good. As you get used to a new environment you may start to
detect the Hum there too which would rule out your home as being a
contributory cause. There may or may not be a defence against whatever
the hum is. Sometimes I think that sensing the Hum may be us 'hearing'
the carrier wave rather than the message it carries. Which begs the
question. What's it doing to those who are unaware of it?
