Count me in too I guess. I own a RM1x (just recently bought) and an SU700 (had for
almost a year, since they first came out in US). I haven't connected together/synched
the 2 blue boxes yet. New to this list, sorry for the long introduction.
Beside the SU700 (fully maxed out with 68MB RAM, ASIB1 SCSI board & AIEB1 I/O board,
and internal ZIP drive) and the RM1x, here's a short list of the other minimal gear I
own:
Digitech Talker
AXS-2 Microphone
About 10 sample CDs (1/2 from equipment bought)
AMD K6-2 450MHz PC with 128MB RAM, 8GB HD, SB Live Platinum soundcard with LiveDrive
add-on (digital RCA S/PDIF in/out, Line2In/Mic In and headphones out [2 1/4" jacks],
and MIDI in/out connectors on a drive bay sized connection at the front of the PC).
Zerius Vocoder, Samplitude 4.03, Stomper Ultra++ 4.0, Sound Forge XP 4.0d, ReCycle
1.7, ReBirth 2.0.1, and MixMan Studio softwares.
I am into all types of music, including hard rock, heavy metal, dance, house, techno,
electronica, hip hop, rap, etc. Pretty much everything except alternative rock,
country, and american folk music (though I do like world folk music like Indian
music). Composition wise, due to my limited playing skills, etc. I create electronic
based music. I am trying to work more on early 80's style electro-funk music (think
Afrikka Bambaataa, Newcleus, Egyptian Lover, et al). Sorta like Styles 24 and 25 on
the RM1x. Also into composing other electronic & techno based music.
I will probably have some questions to ask of the more experienced users on this list,
being a MIDIOT as far as connecting equipment goes.
As far as examples of my work online, check the SU700 directory at TekLab's FTP site
for several versions of the Tutorial song from chapter 2 of the SU700 manual. The
sampling and sequencing were done by me, following the instructions of the manual's
sequence fairly well. Some uniqueness (i.e. scratching of various samples) thrown in
by me. Also, look to the SampleLibrary.net site in the music bar directory for an MP3
by me under the username "wasted." The song is called "Komatos" and is my first (and
so far only) totally original creation online.
