If UNIX is a plague, then what is Windows? <grin/> And I still do a lot on 
Linux work from the command line. But I agree that native TSO is for 
masochists. I just wish that there was a Linux editor which combines what I 
like in gvim, ISPF edit, and Xedit. Which would basically be an ISPF editor 
with GUI and regular expressions for find, change, and exclude. Oh, and a 
"macro" language of some sort (REXXish or Perl-ish) as well as user 
controllable syntax highlighting like gvim's. So maybe a gvim with "line 
commands" (and a "line command" area on each line) is closer to what I would 
like.
