I guess it depends on your definition of "very little". E.g., STOW is considered a BPAM macro. but works just fine with an EXCP DCB for adding an alias and changing or deleting a directory entry. I've never tried it on a PDS/E, or to add a member, but at least the add could be done with proper data in the DCB.
