Being specific about what "flavour" of BSC is rather important.

One solution to your problem may be a "box" which plays the role of a 2701
where there is a channel interface which is supported by BTAM or TCAM ,or
another non-SNA access method, on one side and a serial line, say with a
V.35 interface, over which one of the BSC protocols runs. You didn't tell us
what your interface to the "mainframe" was nor did you tell us what
"flavour" of BSC you needed to support.

Regarding the "flavour" of BSC, in general there is point-to-point,
involving contention, BSC, as used with the 2780 and 3780, and there is
multipoint, involving polling, BSC as used with the 3271 and 3275
controllers. If whatever you are driving is one of these, or emulates one of
these, it may help to tell us.

Actually as Pat implies, it will help only if one of the "listers" has had a
similar need for BSC support and can recommend his/her solution - or - one
happens to know of a supplier of relevant BSC solutions. John McKown
suggested Hydra which *may* support the BSC "flavour" you need.

I may as well mention it: it always worried me that, when NTO provided its
BSC support - somewhat later than the start-stop support if I remember
well - it insisted that it supported only point-to-point contention BSC as
required by the 3780. I had imagined that point-to-point contention BSC was
an adequate description of the protocol but that insertion of "3780" seemed
to imply otherwise.

When you "purchase" a possible "solution" make sure you get it "on
approval". <g>
