I guess I was whining, we were looking at no tapes at all on the
zBox. Back-up disk to disk and flash to somewhere for LTO back up, but
right now we are reconsidering and likely will go VTS. Looks like a
Windows server solution is going to fit the budget :( It's cheaper than
the maintenance on our 3590s.

  I still think it's crazy to download from CA and then have the damn
thing insist on a tape.

Your tapeless goal doesn't include any form of virtual tape?  

You won't volume backup any dasd - not even for recovery?  Or will
you do so to other dasd and only keep one (or a very minimal number)
version.  What about applications that want or need (perhaps for
regulatory
purposes) a backup copy of data every day and need to keep xxx days
or months or years worth?  Sounds like you'll need *a lot* of DASD.
