The decision to have SYNCGENR/ICEGENER replace IEBGENER is typically made at installation time. Once SYNCGENR/ICEGENER has been set up to replace IEBGENER everything else should be automatic. The Installation Guide details what needs to be done for SyncSort. I assume the steps are very similar for DFSORT. The amount of effort to do this is trivial.

If you were to change all[1] use of IEBGENER jobs to use ICEGENER (or SYNCGENR) or to an in-house-written copy program, you could reduce the CPU consumed in copies by a factor of 5 to 10. Isn't ICE/SYN called automatically, without SYSIN control cards? If that's the case, then what optimisation is available? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
