Sure, some do.   And others sometimes greatly underestimate a 
suddenly very timely session based on poor past attendance.  Both
happen all the time.

It happens.  It also happens that people cannot tell they are in the 
wrong session until they see the handout.  Session descriptions
don't always tell it all.

BTW, there is a hint that SHARE expects there will be fewer handouts.
The Session Evaluation form used to have a question asking about 
the value of the handouts.  It now asks about the value of the 
downloadable session notes or something like that.  The question 
made no sense until I saw what it had replaced.

Even though SHARE no longer provides a copy service, it did provide
a central place where handouts could be shipped, stored, and 
retrieved on site.  As long as they continue doing that the handout 
situation will be pretty much as it has been; for most speakers, that 
is all that SHARE has needed to provide.
