There's always risk anytime you make any sort of change.  The biggest one I 
would warn you about is to only have the DASD Linux needs defined to the LPAR.  
If you have the Linux LPAR able to access all the DASD, one mistake could wipe 
out one or more of the volumes used by z/OS.

Almost all of them do.  Very few shops have only Linux LPARs defined.  (Usually 
only the smallest and the largest sites.)
