it native), but you are correct that it "might" not run on a z14 or z15. It

Anyway the OP should have no problems running z/OS 1.10 on their new z12, assuming he
gets the toleration PTFs, and assuming he is up to the most "current" z/OS 1.10
maintenance it likely would run without them as well, just some parts might not work
completely. The extensions are not overly expensive. (even from my very cheap point of
view).
To clarify:
z/OS 1.10 and older will NOT work on z14 and next machines. Dot.
z/VM will not help.
It was mentioned by IBM many times.
Note: we talk about work/not work, not about what is supported/not
supported.
