Peter, Cobol UUID4 (available in 6.3) had a horrible performance on a z13. In z15, the performance is excellent. We opened a SR and they tell us about the random number generator.
If you can't wait and have Db2, I wrote a Db2 Funct to generate UUID based on TOD.
