SYSIN/SYSOUT are subsystem datasets, and the (sort of) "natural" interface is by ACB/RPL, where each record has a specified length (in the RPL). LRECL & BLKSIZE are rather nebulous concepts compared to QSAM/BSAM, which are emulated; one might say on a best-effort basis.
