Yes, yes, and yes. We had 4 4341s back at University of Waterloo, running VM on Adesse SSI, supporting 20,000 students. That was a fun time. 4341s looked like several dishwashers (or maybe more washing machines) next to each other.
As did the 3350s, kinda. We gave a high school class a data center tour once. One of the kids thought it would be funny to flip the R/O switch on a 3350. System did not appreciate being unable to write to its page space... -----Original Message----- From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List <[email protected]> On Behalf Of rpinion865 Sent: Thursday, July 31, 2025 2:42 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [EXTERNAL] Re: 4381 capacity and performance 4341 definitely laid on its side. Worked at a site in 1983 that had two 4341s, shared SPOOL and MVS SP 1.x (again). If I remember correctly, there was a direct connection for the console. I was told that the 3090s used 43xx for the processor controller. The same person told me that the 308x used 8100s for the processor controller. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
