Found this on bitsavers. I remember the lid would come open when the paper ran out, normally right after the shift supervisor put their beverage cup on it. The ribbon stopped along with the paper when overprinting. If done with gusto, overprinting would saw the ribbon in two. The paper tapes for forms control were like gold with special forms.
