Well now be-careful.... Depends on what you mean by BDT....
There are (or were) two products called BDT.
The first one was (20 or so) years ago a IUP/FDP called BDT (roughly $100 a month)
Then there is a JES3 flavor of BDT (unknown cost).
The FDP/IUP worked over NJE (JES2/3) and the VM part (sorry don't remember the extra cost name but I think it was VNET or something like that) .
In JES2 it basically created a "job" that fed the JES .
My memory is iffy here but it "encrypted" and compressed the data. JES2 just transmitted the data and of course bisync or SNA it couldn't of cared less. we had over 200 NJE nodes and transmitted/received data using the FDP BDT. Every day for years and nary a burp (well over 2000 "jobs" a day, maybe more)

BTW: Who's using BDT?

JES3 users, unless IBM has finally fixed it so that it can do NJE
without BDT.

We don't care. We don't have to care, we're Congress.
