We also had "invalid attachment failure". Don't POR the CPU or you will lose all your connections! Ask me how I know. The fix was to configure(turn on) HIF(High integrity fabric) on the director. Existing connections were fine, but new ones or ones that had been disconnected were the ones that failed. When we brought in new processor we were also doing ficon director firmware upgrades. We POR'd the new processor, and it wouldn’t connect to any of the DASD.... I hope this helps. These are not silly questions, rather mandatory or "first to ask" :-) 1. FOS 7.4.2.a It is both FICON-qualified and IBM-recommended (from among qualified). 2. Yes, it is cascaded connection. I'm trying to find out what knob is wrong causing the failure of "high intergrity". Further detail: the opposite connection is working fine. Semi-diagram for that: CPC1 - SW07 - SW08 - CU5 - that works fine CU3 - SW07 - SW08 - CPC2 - that fails.
