I've been out on vacation coming into this conversation late, so I apologize if some of
this had already been discussed. We also had "invalid attachment failure".
Don't POR the CPU or you will lose all your connections! Ask me how I know.
The fix was to configure(turn on) HIF(High integrity fabric) on the director.
Existing connections were fine, but new ones or ones that had been
disconnected were the ones that failed. When we brought in new processor we
were also doing ficon director firmware upgrades. We POR'd the new processor,
and it wouldn’t connect to any of the DASD....

That sound reasonable, because FICON channel check (query) integrity
settings during port login or fabric login, that means when you
configure it online (or just perform POR).
However "HIF" seems to be set properly:
- unique Domain ID with Insistent Domain (IDID)
- PBR
- DLS with Lossless On
- IOD on
- SCC policy defined and active, with Strict.
What's wrong? What else?
