Thanks to all who responded. The problem is that I attempted to send a tersed dumpload file to the Linux Group at IBM for problem resolution.
When they read it, it indicated it was not a vmdump. I was attempting to send the dump without the intervening steps. As I write this I think I will respond that they need to deterse the file and then see if they can read it. The dump was taken using #cp vmdump under a linux that had stopped responding. Raymond F.
