Considering that the Z54W01 volume created by the z/VM 5.4 installation 

process includes some important mdisks, such as MAINT 193, it's almost 

certainly a bad idea.  If you DDR'd the whole volume you're now missing 

all the current and correct stuff on those MDISKS.
