z/VM Version 4 Release 4 was the last release to run on a 9672, but that's only interesting if (a) you have z/VM V4 laying around, and (2) you have the needed licenses. z/VM V3 and VM/ESA, even though no longer available or serviced, still require payment of monthly license fees as long as you use them. If the 9672 moves you up to a new (virtual) model group, then your MLC increases.
