It was an awesome day 2 for intercollegiate big boat sailors aboard the Navy
44 sloops in Annapolis. The 9 teams assembled for the Shields Trophy
Regatta were treated to 8-16 knots of oscillating northeasterly breeze and
crystal clear sunny skies.

3 windward/leeward races were completed. When the dust settled, the
consistent performance by California Maritime was rewarded with a well
deserved victory.

Coast Guard finished strong winning the last 2 races but couldn't overcome a
6th in the first race of the day. SUNY also displayed solid consistency
finishing up in 3rd.

Thanks to PRO Gene Gibbons, Jan Richardson and their RC team who were a
model of efficiency as well as Dan Trammell who served as chief judge.
