Today provided ideal conditions for racing in the Kennedy Cup out of the
Naval Academy in Annapolis. With 18-20 knots from the NNE, PRO Taran
Teague set up shop on the south course area between Thomas and Tolly Point
and proceeded to run five 4 leg races with legs varying between 1.2 and .9
miles.

Navy picked up where they left off yesterday winning the first race of the
day and continued to extend their lead for the next two races with two
2nds. Coast Guard got it going to win the second race of the day and Cal
Maritime came on strong posting a 1,2,1 following two 4th places. SUNY
also had a good day with a 3,5,3,1,6.****

The wheels came a bit loose for Navy on the day’s 4th race when they were
OCS then fouled two boats while attempting to restart. Despite a nice
comeback to 3rd, they failed to properly inform the RC of their 2 I flag
incidents which turned a 3rd into an 11th cracking the door slightly for
Cal Maritime and SUNY who both moved up the leader board into 2nd and
3rdrespectively.

After the dust settled in the protest room, Navy remains on top carrying a
10 point lead into Sunday. With only one race remaining on the schedule,
Cal Maritime and SUNY will be battling it out for second and third with
Coast Guard having an outside shot at the podium 4 points back.****
