Dear friends, Thanks for all the input. The BSNL 3 Datacard has somehow started working fine. I've upgraded to Natty Narwhal and things are going fine now.
It seems that the signal reception in my area is disappointingly poor. Previously I couldn't get an estimate of the signal "range" with windows, but now with Ubuntu, I see that the "activity" is almost always 20-30%, to state a rough average ! How's it for you guys out there ? Is it the same ? I live in the heart of Trivandrum city (near Vellayambalam) The signal is at its best when I take my laptop to the second storey but on the ground floor, it can come down to as low as 6 - 9% activity :( -- "Freedom is the only law".
