hi,

in all this my question is still left unanswered !!

yes, i am able to telnet port 110 and my telnet service is also on. no
Iptales/Firewall is running still unable to telnet port 25

also, nmap -sS 127.0.0.1 shows

PORT STATE SERVICE
22/tcp open ssh
23/tcp open telnet
25/tcp open smtp
109/tcp open pop-2
110/tcp open pop-3
111/tcp open rpcbind
143/tcp open imap
631/tcp open ipp
993/tcp open imaps
995/tcp open pop3s
1030/tcp open iad1
1031/tcp open iad2

so that means port is open, then why i get

[EMAIL PROTECTED] root]# telnet localhost 25
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.
Escape character is '^]'.
Connection closed by foreign host.

any hints ???

amit
