Hardware: Pentium II 266 MHz, 96MB RAM I need to make this a gateway - routing, firewall and potentially squid too.
I am trying to figure out which would be the best distro/OS to use. Currently I am considering Debian, Slackware and FreeBSD/OpenBSD Most important for me is that everything needs to work and secondly it shouldnt be too much of a pain to maintain. I would request feedback in technical merits rather than declaration of holy war :). Personally I know zipslack 10 runs fine and Fedora Core 1 brought it down to a crawl. Obviously there will be no X Windows or any desktop productivity applications running on it. Squid ofcourse might be a problem.
