What do you mean by "previous vendor"? If you have support contracts with both Mysql, and Redhat/Novell, and are asking whether mysql patches will break the mysql distribution from the OS vendor, the answer is to ask Mysql, or Redhat/Novell for a patch compatible with your OS.
