I would like to know more on your comparative evaluation. My
objectives are quite modest. I would like a setup which allows various
people to file digital documents into database collections which can
then be queried and searched. My setup is essentially meant for usage
within the local network and not really over the internet.

My reasons for choosing invenio over dspace were rather mundane.

First, I managed to install invenio after wasting a lot of time on
greenstone. Although I am still stuck on apache configuration, the
main invenio installation, on a trial machine, has been done. Also, I
have not yet gone beyond the demo collection that comes with it.

Second, the default database backend for invenio is mysql while the
same for dspace is postgres. I have had some experience of managing
mysql and therefore felt more confident.

If you think dspace if "head and shoulders above all the others", I am
willing to reconsider my decision.

How easy is it to get it going? Also, can one use mysql as the backend
rather than postgres?
