Hi, I have an iMac (rev a or b, don't remember). A few days ago, when I went to turn it on, it chimed, when "zap" and turned off. The zap seemed to corrispond to the monitor turning on. I was told that a new power supply would probably cost 300-400, and since I can get a new mac for about twice that, I figured it wasn't worth it.
Someone suggested that I look into disabling the internal screen and plug in an external monitor. I was wondering whether anyone knew of sources of information about how to go about disabling the monitor and disconnecting it from power.
