Hi, Don't disconnect anything from the motherboard. Disconnect the largest cable you see when you remove the plastic casing. It's one of the four cables you remove to pull out the motherboard/CD/HD sled assembly. If the monitor is dead, the light on the front of the iMac always remains amber, never turning to green. Gary
