Not sure how much this horse has been beaten...but even if dead...

An alternative to networking is to swap floppies (you would have to buy an
USB floppy drive for the iMac), or to exchange Zip disks if each had a Zip
drive.  Now, if that Dell has a USB port, you could use the same Zip drive
on both machines.
