Yes, in theory, they can be written to about 1,000 times.  However they do
eventually wear out.  Of course, it all depends upon how often you plan to
do a backup.  If you only do it once a month, and you store and handle them
carefully, they should last at least a few years.  Don't write on the
labels, just use stickies for any pertinent info that would change
regularly.
