If you've ever worked your way through the interactive training disks for
any of the Apple II computers, they mention this as well.  And even give you
a little quiz: "Type the number two hundred and one" and then they yell at
you if you use an L for a one or an O (Oh) for a zero, IIRC.

While we're talking about old computers, I just added a new oldest computer
to my collection, it's from 1924 and it has a 72 key keyboard, that has 8 of
each number, 1 through 9.  Okay so it's an adding machine... it's almost a
computer.

Modern day computer keyboards would be much more fun if they had a big crank
on the side instead of an enter key.
