Yes, those heady days are gone, and for the most part (99.9 percent of 
the time) that is indeed a good thing. Assigning the memory space for 
an app? Wow.

But one thing you can adjust is the CPU usage. There's a Unix command 
called `renice,' which I don't really know the specifics of how to 
work. But there is a program (on Version Tracker) called "Renicer" 
which will do it for you. It will adjust it so that a certain 
application will get priority usage of the CPU.

Whether that will help you keep a Real Audio stream, I don't know...:-)
