Why shouldn't he, they have a GREAT business model -- snowball the
people up front, but leave them screwed once the deal is done. For what
they've done to some school districts they should be in court, but
it'll never happen.

That's all rubbish. Microsoft makes a *fortune* off of sales of Office
for the Mac. They're a little unhappy about the migration rate of OS X,
but there's no WAY they will be abandoning Office for the Mac anytime
soon. Let me put it this way -- it makes so much $$ for them that it's
profitability even looks good when compared to the Windows version (!).

Several. There's a lot that could be said here, but I'm going to boil
it WWWWWWAAAAAAAAYYYYY down and just point you to some pages.

1. Mac OS X is UNIX. It is the first really easy-to-use UNIX. This has
opened the door for Apple in a number of places where OS 9 was
previously unwelcome. For examples, have a look at
http://www.apple.com/scitech/stories/

2. The XServe. Not much more need be said about this, other than to
point you to http://www.apple.com/xserve/, and once you're done reading
that just search your favourite PC magazine or PC review sites for
reviews of the xserve.

Then don't bring it up unless it's really, REALLY germane. For example,
instead of just bringing up the XServe as a server, wait till the
discussion turns to UNIX versus Windows and *then* mention it as the
best UNIX alternative.

I've found great success in characterising Apple (now) as the
largest/biggest/best UNIX company with the best UNIX version. What
other UNIX can do both cluster computing *and* run Microsoft Office?
What other UNIX can be used by 87-year-old grandmas *and* DNA
researchers? What other UNIX can do video, audio, multimedia, graphics,
publishing and science so elegantly and easily?

Sure you'll still get the feebs who's personal hands-on knowledge of
Apple's products ended at middle school, but if you just roll your eyes
and explain to them that THAT Apple is gone, and has been replaced with
UNIX Apple, with best-of-breed-everything Apple, with
seamless-connectivity-to-everybody-Apple, with open-source and
restriction-free efforts by Apple, the feebs will be forced to retreat
and will have to listen to you when you explain and promote the New
Apple, the largest UNIX provider in the world.
