That's what I was going to say, Gerald. I used to have a UMAX- something SCSI scanner, but it was with a 7500, so speed seems relative. The Epson Perfection 1250 (USB) I have now, I suppose, is slow by "pro" standards (which I don't know what they are) with a 800 MHz iMac G4, but it does the job, it has a slide adapter (which I never used- I'm 100% digital, now) the software is neat and not too Mac- hostile (in both OS9 and X) and it was only about 100 bucks. The UMAX was good, but I had so much damn luck with Epson products, I decided to keep everything "in the family" when I upgraded all my peripherals last year.
