Hi folks!

I'm using a 600 MHz iMac with CRW drive and installed 10.2 when that became available.

Now I've gone to an article on Apple's support site which implies that I should have installed firmware updates? At the time, I was under the impression that G3 any model 500 MHz and over was OS X ready. Here are the 4 things the site says should be installed:

iMac with internal CD-RW drive:

iMac Firmware Update 4.1.9
Theater Mode 2.0.3
Disc Burner 1.0.1
iMac Power Management Update

Should I go ahead and run these now?

I only looked at the site because I thought I might try to revive an old G3 450 MHz Dv iMac I have sitting around and wanted to just put OS X on it without any OS 9. It looks like I have to install OS 9 JUST to add firmware that lets the 450 MHz run OS X? Even if I don't want OS 9 I need the system to upgrade the hardware for OS X?

What about my 600 MHZ G3? It's running OS X 10.2.8. If I were to ever install Tiger, I need OS 9 as well and now have to run a firmware update? I could swear I never did that before. Is it just that these firmware updates become necessary over time and the software update alert never notifies the user?

Thanks for any clarification.

PS I have about 6 different iPod upater folders in my Applications folder. does one need to just run the latest version, or do I need to run all six sequentially?
