Thanks for this link. I read this before placing my question. It implies that I couldn't have installed Jaguar without running a firmware update, which I didn't. My G3 600 MHz didn't get fried.
And I was hoping that I didn't need to install OS 9 to install a firmware upgrade to my 450 MHz Ruby. I feel like I've read somewhere before that I could bypass OS 9 all together.
