I'm confused pls. Sort me out.
Several sources indicate you can't repair permissions on the boot
volume using the Disk Utility on the booted disk. Advice is to use
the install disk, etc. This is said to be particularly important before
downloading software updates. However, "the advice" goes on to say that
after downloading an update, permissions should again be repaired, this
time from the onboard Disk Utility.
Is this correct and if so why the different source for Disk Utility?
Maybe its all the turkey fogging the thinking process.
